Is the Saman the ancestor of Halloween?
Halloween is the origin of a Celtic festival of Samain, it is the beginning of the New Year. The Celts believed that during this night the spirits can visit the living. About 3000 years ago, the celestial calendar did not end on December 31 but on October 31. This famous night represented the night of Samain.
Halloween comes from an alteration of All Hallows Eve which means "the eve of all saints".

How was Halloween exported to the United States?
The Irish and Scots settled in the United States around the middle of the 19th century to flee the great famine and brought their customs with them. This is when the Halloween we all know became the Halloween we all know. Since then, Halloween has been celebrated all over the world.

How is Halloween organized?
Today, Halloween is celebrated in many countries. In the United States Halloween is prepared as early as October. Houses start to be decorated with Halloween colors and the children's costumes are already ready for the day.

Why do children dress up?
